    I need sleep!

    What's goin' on everyone!

Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop my mind from racing so i can get some sleep?  I have tried just about everything other than sleep aids.  I tried several herbal teas and such like, but they had no efect at all.  I can't meditate because I can't concentrate.  I even had a friend try to "bind" my mind in order to slow it down.  She got the worst headache of her life.  I felt horrible about it.  I have not gotten more than 2 hrs of sleep in 1 night for about 3 months.  I don't know what to do, and my friends over here are running out of ideas.  If anyone has any suggestions i am will ing to try just about anything.  I would really appriciate some advice.

    hi moonwolf,
i am going through a sleepless phase too, but there are a few things that might help you. kinda goes without saying to cut back the caffine if that is an issue (my number one problem), try an herbal supplement called valerian. also, if you have an oil diffuser, lavender essential oil is good for calming the mind. eliminate any light or noise from computers and anything with and led display. even the smallest light can stimulate your brain if you are trying to drift off. there can be many causes of unrest. i hope you can find what is causing yours and that you are able to catch some zzzz's. good luck and sweet dreams.
    peace and blessings,

    Hi,
I have the same problems alot.I find that taking a hot bath with candles while reading a book works for me.You can skip the bath part I guess but I do know reading makes me sleepy.

Well I was going to suggest a bath, cos years ago a midwife told me that bathing my baby son would help him sleep. I'd suggest staying off your pc a good few hours before bed as this makes my mind wander. If you find you can't meditate, try praying while you are in bed. If my mind's racing, I start a prayer, talk to my Goddess about whatever's in my thoughts, and it tends to focus me, and calm my mind.

I hope you get some sleep soon!

I'm going to concur with the others in this one. A hot, relaxing bath with some lavendar bath salts or oil should settle your mind no end. A dream-pillow with lavendar and some other sleep-inducing herbs might help also.

In general, I suggest less caffeine and more exercise. A good run at one point during the day should leave you wiped out at night - but don't run just before bed, because you'll end up all stimulated.

If no other suggestions work if you can find some loose herbs anywhere you could try again with the herbal tea. A mixture of chamomile, catnip, lavender works well. Melatonin is also a natural sleep aid and non addictive. If you read often reading will focus your mind on the book and you may drift off. Hope you get some sleep soon.
